Tracie Uchima, DVM
Dr. Tracie Uchima is a native of Torrance, CA and attended West Torrance High School. From there she matriculated to the University of Hawaii on a softball scholarship, majoring in Animal Science. While at UH, Dr. Uchima received numerous awards and accolades including Scholar Athlete of the Year, 1st Team All-WAC, Academic All-American, and 2005 NCAA Woman of the Year. During her time at the University, she spent four years researching ovine reproductive endocrinology. Following graduation she went on to veterinary school at Michigan State University. After being away from Torrance for almost a decade, Dr. Uchima returned home to practice veterinary medicine. Her veterinary interests include small animal ophthalmology, surgery, and large animal reproduction.
Porcia’s love for animals started very early on in her life. She always wanted to bring home all the stray animals but that, of course, didn’t sit well with her parents. Much to her parents’ relief, Porcia decided to become a veterinary assistant instead of collecting a bunch of strays.
In her spare time, Porcia enjoys reading, shopping for shoes (of which she has too many), and eating Mexican food.
